A Thousand Families Received Aid in Easter

The Hungarian Reformed Church Aid (HRCA) launched a nationwide fundraiser in March to help needy families and the elderly with non-perishable food items as they were approaching the day of resurrection. Thanks to the in kind and finantiaé donations, nearly a thousand disadvantaged people were able to celebrate fully.

In the recent years, it has become a tradition for well-wishers to fill the Love Boxes with durable food in the spring period as well. HRCA launched its Easter fundraiser to draw the attention of the public to the fact that donation is not only needed during Advent, but throughout the year as well.

This year also brings a number of challenges for charities: digital education outside the classroom and the change of worship services to online also meant the closure of many collection points, where donors could bring their donations. However, donors showed again this year, that they wanted to help their fellow human beings with donations gathered in six counties across the country. In total, more than two tons of non-perishable food items, 90 bags of clothes, shoes and toys as well as nearly half a million Hungarian Forint in financial support were received for the Easter call of HRCA.

The Herman Ottó Intézet Nonprofit Kft. also joined the collection of Easter donations. Thanks to their participation half a ton of flour, half a ton of other non-perishable food and 12 cartoons of puffed sorghum were received from 12 donors. Donations were received by individuals and institutions including kindergartens, homes for the elderly and congregations.
