The University welcomed Peter Bukowski, the former moderator of the German Reformed Alliance, as a new honorary doctor, whose life was presented by Rector Gusztáv Bölcskei. The German pastor was born in 1950 and he studied in Köln and Berlin. He was the moderator of the Reformed Alliance in Germany between 1990 and 2015 and has had a good relationship with Hungary and the Reformed Church in Hungary for 30 years. ”Peter Bukowski’s workmanship and philosophy shows that, beside the new waves, the foundations are important too,” said Bölcskei.

Peter Bukowski told the crowd in a thankful tone that, in his opinion, Hungary is the home of good reformed theology and he was especially grateful for it as it relates to the current ecological dialogue. He stressed that it is a great honor for him to be an honorary doctor at the Reformed Theological University of Debrecen.

After the award ceremonies for those receiving their doctorates and honorary doctorates the event has continued with speeches on scientific topics. In the afternoon, Peter Bukowski gave a lecture entitled, “How the right theology becomes wrong?”
