Prior to its Synod Meeting, the Praeses of EKiR, invited the leaders of the partner churches to a consultation on the refugee situation. The next meeting will be held in Budapest. A press release has also been issued.
At its constituting meeting on 25th February the new General Synod elected its ministerial and lay Presidents for the coming 6 years. The outgoing Presiding Bishop Gusztáv Bölcskei has been succeeded by Dr. István Szabó.
In the last 18 years we arrived at the community of churches looking for its future – the outgoing Presiding Bishop, Gusztáv Bölcskei evaluated the events of his three terms in a row on the 15th, closing session of the 13th Synod.
At the 10th General Assembly of the World Council of Churches, Gusztáv Bölcskei, presiding bishop of the RCH, participated in meetings with His Holiness Karekin II, supreme patriarch and Catholicos of the Holy See of St. Echmiadzin and All Armenians and also Nareg Alemezian, Archbishop and representative of the Cilician Catholicosate (Lebanon).
Béla Halász, the new bishop of the Reformed Christian Church in Serbia, spoke about the importance of community and the reconstruction of unity in his installation sermon on 13 April. The service, framed as a ceremonial worship, was held in the Reformed church in Hertelendyfalva.
Word has finally arrived from the Reformed Christian Church in Serbia on the church's tumultuous bishop election. Béla Halász has become the bishop of the RCCS now that the final appeal period officially ended with no further appeals.
