5 days, 150 program events, 3 keynote speeches. Spiritual deepening, worship, dance, and joy, all without alcohol, yet with total liberation. An encounter with the loving God and with 2500 open, loving people who became brothers and sisters by the end of the fifth day - this was the 10th Starpoint, the festival of freedom.
Thousands of participants, including many Hungarian youngsters from across the border, are expected to attend the Starpoint Reformed Youth Festival in Debrecen, which began on Tuesday. The theme of this year's festival is freedom.
Starpoint Youth Festival has started today. In an inteview, Rev. László Thoma, the "main speaker" of the event spoke about issues around the theme of the meeting; individual freedom, the misconceptions regarding “Christian freedom”, as well as opportunities for finding common ground.
Vibrant beats, catchy choruses, deep messages - the theme song of the this year's Starpoint Youthfestival has been published. According to the theme of the meeting, the Starpoint Band, the Első lépés (First Step) Band from Debrecen, jointly composed the hit of the festival to celebrate freedom.
Ecumenical guests journeyed to Starpoint from 11 countries and 16 partner churches of the RCH. Some expected a conference while others were surprised that, here, youthful songs were being sung. We spoke with eight out of the 31 guests, and we also asked them of their favorite Bible verse that gives them strength.
“Feel Kingdom of God surround you as you look for Him in the middle,” said István Szabó, Presiding Bishop of the RCH, who encouraged the participants of the Starpoint Reformed Youth Festival. On July 23rd, the ninth Starpoint kicked off in Debrecen with more than two thousand participants.
„Let your ears hear and get into the boat of each other’s life, because we fulfill our mission when we do not walk by the others” – said Péter Pál Czeglédi to the participants during the closing worship of the ninth Starpoint Festival. The festival ended with a communion.
